Data collection!

So I have started data collection for my project!
5 choice chambers

I set up 5 choice chambers, each with a conker in one chamber and a control (stone) in the other. I took measurments e.g. side (A or B) where the spider is, and distance from conker at time intervals of 15 minutes, 60 minutes and 24 hours.
More details to follow, this is a very brief and short post.

And so it begins…

So for my dissertation I decided to test the old wives’ tale that conkers deter spiders. My grandmother was an advocate of this method and you would always be able to find conkers littered about her house. I really wanted to test something that had real-world implications and this was the perfect topic for me.
I decided I wanted to use a two-way choice chamber with a conker in one chamber and a control in the other.
The preparation for this project was a lot of fun as it involved collecting a vast amount of conkers from a tree on West Common, Lincoln.
See the attached picture of the bag of conkers I collected!
I also need to collect house spiders for my experiment, please take a look at the huge spider I found.

Conkers galore!Spider!

More updates to follow as I progress with da ta collection.
